Student Visa for Spain (from Malaga)

Clear, practical information to help you understand how to study legally in Spain — before you apply.

To apply for a student visa, full payment of your program is required before we can issue your official acceptance letter.

This is a standard requirement and applies to all long-term programs.

Who needs a student visa?

You will typically need a student visa if:

  • You are a non-EU citizen
  • You plan to study in Spain for more than 90 days

If your stay is shorter, you may not need a visa.

👉 Always confirm with your local Spanish consulate.

What you need to apply

To request your visa, you will need:

  • Enrollment in an eligible long-term Spanish course (typically 20 lessons per week)
  • Full payment of the program
  • Official acceptance letter (issued by the school)
  • Health insurance
  • Proof of financial means
  • Accommodation details (in some cases)

👉 Requirements may vary depending on your country.

Vacation rules

For long-term programs:

  • Courses up to 20 weeks
    → include 15% vacation time
  • Courses over 20 weeks
    → include 20% vacation time

These vacation weeks are included in your acceptance letter.

Example

Student applying for a 6-month visa
Course duration: 24 weeks
Vacation included: 5 weeks
Total stay covered by visa: full program duration

The acceptance letter reflects both study and vacation periods.
